About the Customizer

Get to know the extension and how it works alongside easyjob.

What is the Customizer?

The Customizer is an independent extension by Simon Rossmann for easyjob 6. It adds to your existing installation and helps you adapt the interface and controls to your everyday work.

For example, you can adjust colours, menus, toolbars and forms, or use additional custom fields. The underlying application, easyjob, is developed by protonic software.

What is the Customizer not?

The Customizer is not an official protonic software product. It is developed and supported independently by Simon Rossmann.

The Customizer does not replace the user interface of the easyjob client. You still work in the familiar easyjob environment: the Customizer adapts its appearance and controls and adds selected features.

It makes thoughtful use of the available possibilities to make your daily work easier. It cannot fulfil every wish, though: not every customisation can be applied everywhere. Because the Customizer builds on easyjob, its capabilities also depend on how easyjob develops. Changes to easyjob may therefore require adjustments to the Customizer.

The best way to see whether it suits you is to try it with your own workflows. The free 30-day trial gives you time to explore the features and customisations and decide whether they fit you and your team before buying.

What does the Customizer change in my data?

The Customizer saves its own settings and additional content for its features. Your existing business data, such as projects, remains unchanged by interface customisations.

Some features make targeted changes to existing easyjob settings, such as filters. Only the settings needed for the particular feature are changed.

Can I reuse my settings after reinstalling?

Yes. Your Customizer settings remain saved when you uninstall it. If you reinstall the Customizer in the same easyjob environment later, you can continue using your previous settings.

You can use easyjob without the Customizer in the meantime. The saved settings do not need to be removed for this. An active subscription continues independently of uninstalling.

Pricing & subscription

What you pay, what's included and how you stay flexible.

Another subscription – why?

With a monthly subscription, you can keep deciding whether the Customizer fits your everyday work. You do not have to decide today how long you will use the current easyjob client. If easyjob or your needs change, you can reduce the number of user licences or cancel at the end of the current calendar month, with no additional notice period.

Individually commissioned customisations, for example from protonic, are charged separately and can involve substantial costs depending on their scope. With the Customizer, you make supported customisations yourself, such as creating your own extended user fields. These options are included in your subscription, without commissioning each change separately.

Meanwhile, easyjob continues to evolve. Your subscription funds ongoing maintenance of the Customizer and adjustments needed for new easyjob versions. All features and updates are included during your subscription.

You can try it free for 30 days to see whether it is worthwhile for your everyday work.

What does the Customizer cost?

The Customizer costs €10 net per user per month, plus VAT. You pay for the number of licences you book.

For example, three users cost €30 net per month in total. Use the pricing page to calculate the amount for your team.

What is included in the price?

All Customizer features and updates are included while your subscription is active. You get the full range of features without additional feature packages.

You still need a suitable easyjob licence separately.

What do I pay if I start partway through a month?

In your first month, you only pay for the remaining calendar days, including the day you start. After that, each full calendar month is billed in advance.

For example, starting on 16 September with one licence costs €5 net for September. From October, it is €10 net per month. You see the exact amount before ordering.

Can I keep using the Customizer after cancelling?

Yes. You can keep using the Customizer until the end of the month you have already paid for. This lets you arrange cancellation early while using the full paid period. Your subscription's right to use it ends after that.

Is there an offer for nonprofit projects?

Yes. The Customizer is available free of charge when easyjob is used for a nonprofit organisation or a charitable purpose.

Briefly describe your project through the contact form to arrange its use.

What if the price does not work for me right now?

If you would like to use the Customizer but the price does not currently fit your financial situation, an individual arrangement is possible. Describe your situation through the contact form to find a suitable agreement that can be adjusted when needed.

Users & licences

Find the right number for your team, without complicated licence terms.

How do user licences work?

You buy user licences and assign them to the desired easyjob users in the Customizer. Five user licences let five assigned users use the Customizer. What matters is the assignment, not the number of users currently logged in.

The licence applies to the assigned user at every workstation where they sign in to that easyjob environment and the Customizer is installed. Changing workstations does not require an additional user licence.

Users without an assigned licence cannot use the Customizer. You can change assignments at any time within your available licence allocation.

Does every easyjob user need a Customizer licence?

No. You decide which users should use the Customizer and buy only the user licences they need.

For example, if you have ten easyjob users but only three want to use the Customizer, three user licences are enough. The other users continue working with easyjob as usual.

Do only users who are logged in at the same time count?

No. Five user licences allow five assigned easyjob users to use the Customizer. They are not a shared pool for any five users who happen to be logged in.

Whether an assigned user is currently logged in does not affect the licence assignment. You can change assignments at any time within your available licence allocation.

Setup & everyday use

The essentials for getting started and working with your team.

What do I need to use the Customizer?

You can get started with easyjob 6, a suitable easyjob licence and an active Customizer licence allocation. The free trial is also available to help you get started.

For installation, you need the credentials of an easyjob administrator. Your signed-in Windows account needs write access to the easyjob network data share. The question about IT support explains these two types of access in more detail.

Can I try the Customizer for free?

Yes. You can try the Customizer free for 30 days with up to ten users. To get started, I'll show you the Customizer in a personal live demo, and then we set up your trial together. Just get in touch using the contact form.

The trial ends automatically, so there is nothing to cancel. To continue afterwards, book the licences you need separately. The trial is available once per easyjob server and product.

How do I get started with the Customizer?

Request the free trial, or get in touch if you'd like to book licences straight away. Install the Customizer once using the installer for your easyjob environment.

Then assign the available licences to your chosen users directly in the easyjob client, and you are ready to get started.

Do I need help from my IT team to install it?

You can install the Customizer yourself if you have the required credentials and write access. Installation uses an EXE installer, where you sign in with an easyjob administrator account.

Your signed-in Windows account also needs write access to the existing easyjob network data share. You can start the installation from a client computer. Server access is helpful but not required.

No additional Windows administrator rights, port openings, new network shares or server restart are required. The easyjob client may need to be restarted. Your IT team is only needed if you are missing credentials or write access.

Can my team use different settings?

Yes. You can define shared defaults and adapt them for sites, groups or individual users. Settings are inherited and can be extended or overridden at the relevant scope.

For example, one site can use a different colour palette, while dispatch and accounting have different settings for their day-to-day work. Which value takes precedence depends on the particular setting. Existing easyjob permissions still apply.

Extended user fields

Add your own information to existing easyjob objects. Find out how extended user fields work and what to consider when using their data elsewhere.

Where is the additional information stored?

The Customizer stores extended user fields in its own database tables. Existing object IDs link the additional information to the respective easyjob objects. The fields are added separately, rather than as additional columns in existing easyjob tables.

Where can I use the fields in easyjob?

The Customizer makes the fields visible and usable in supported header data areas and lists. The available options depend on the specific area. You therefore cannot assume that every field is automatically available everywhere in the easyjob client.

How does the SQL query helper help me?

The SQL query helper provides the basic structure of a query for extended user fields. You can use it as a starting point for your own query. You handle adapting it to your specific workflow or report and integrating it yourself.

How much control do I have when creating my own fields?

You can create and manage your own fields to decide which additional information you want to capture. You do not need to commission an individual customization for every addition. The available options depend on the field types and areas supported by the Customizer.

Known limitations

Here you can find out how the Customizer works with easyjob and what to know before you buy.

Does the Customizer slow down easyjob?

Most Customizer features only change the appearance and do not cause noticeable delays in everyday use.

Starting the easyjob client can take a little longer because additional files are loaded over the network. This depends on your network and is usually negligible.

One exception during everyday use is the colour palette, for example for dark mode: whenever a window opens, the Customizer also needs to adjust its colours. This can make windows take longer to open, and controls may briefly flicker during the adjustment. How noticeable this is depends on the window and your PC's performance.

If the colour adjustments slow you down, you can disable the colour palette at any time or use it only when needed. You can continue using the other Customizer features that suit your needs.

Why is there sometimes a brief redraw when opening a window?

When you open a window, easyjob displays its interface first. The Customizer then applies your customisations. You may notice a brief flicker during this transition.

Which parts of easyjob can I customise?

You can adapt many parts of the easyjob interface to your daily work, including colours, menus, toolbars and forms. The available customisations depend on the particular window and element.

The free trial gives you time to explore how your ideas work in practice.

Are extended user fields an easyjob feature?

Extended user fields add your own information to easyjob and appear at supported locations in the interface. They are managed by the Customizer, so they are not available everywhere in the same way as native easyjob fields.

Can I use extended user fields in workflows and reports?

Yes. The Customizer provides its own Activity for the Workflow Designer.

For SQL integration, for example in reports, the SQL query helper provides the basic structure of a query. With the relevant SQL knowledge, you adapt it to your use case and integrate it there.

Where can I search extended user field contents?

In many lists, you can find extended user field contents using the search box. Search availability depends on the particular list and how the fields are integrated.
